Job Description
The Great Plains Family YMCA Board of Directors in Weatherford, OK is seeking an action-oriented leader who can build strong relationships in the communities served and position the YMCA as an indispensable community asset while continuing to create a culture of excellence within the YMCA. A leader who embodies the core values of the YMCA.
The CEO must be visible in the community and active in the development of meaningful community partnerships, positioning the Y as a strong charitable partner.
The board of directors and staff has worked diligently the past several years to eliminate a capital debt. Now that the Y is virtually debt-free it is important that the Y turn its attention to capital improvements in the pool, locker rooms, and other parts of the facility. This will require the CEO to build strong relationships with potential donors and community partners in the community and prepare and lead the Y in a successful capital campaign in the next few years.
In addition, the Great Plains Y operates a 3 Star child care center (highest rating by the Oklahoma Department of Human Services) adjacent to its facility. Child care, including before and after school care and summer day camp, represents 49% of the Y's total operating revenue, and it is critical that the new CEO be well-versed in child care and risk management.
Qualifications
Minimum Criteria for candidates:
Accredited 4-year college degree.
Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
Minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.
Must have the ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
Have the ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.
Preferred Criteria for Candidates:
YMCA Organizational Leader Certification.
Fiscally sound business management approach.
Strategic planning and Fundraising experience including annual campaigns and the securing of grants.
A proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management in excess of $1M or more annually.
Essential Functions
Key Deliverables and Requirements for the CEO include, but are not limited to:
Improve Operational Performance: Successfully integrate and enhance on-going programming. Analyze current programs and services and create and develop new and long-term revenue streams, establish programs that impact community needs and increase the long-term financial stability of the organization leading to superior results in programs, member and community engagement.
Develop and Lead the Staff Team: Create and implement a plan to build unity, encourage teamwork, set operational goals; hold staff accountable, and foster individual staff development. Ensure that staff performance and development leads to superior outcomes in programs, member satisfaction and community engagement. Evaluate the current strengths and weaknesses of all key staff and create a plan for individual staff development, including key changes in organizational structure and key roles as needed. Lead by example and remain actively engaged in staff development and performance, which will lead to superior results in programming, member and community engagement.
Create a Culture of Excellence: Actively interact and communicate with YMCA members, donors, volunteers and community leaders. Act as an ambassador for the mission and vision for the YMCA within the community. Be seen and respected as a leader within the community, proactively creating collaborations while always upholding the highest standards of the values of the YMCA and the YMCA's heritage.
Develop a Vision for the Y and its Future: Work in collaboration with the board and staff to develop a vision for the Y and its future and then develop and implement a plan to help the Y realize its vision.
Board Governance: Work with the board to continually strengthen the board and implement best practices in board governance.
Financial Development: The Great Plains Y raises 12% of its revenue every year through its annual campaign. It is critical that the new CEO provides leadership to the Y's annual campaign as well as prepare the Y for a future successful capital campaign.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
