Summary:
The STEM Recruiter and Workforce Liaison reports to the Director of Admissions and Recruitment with the primary duty of working with SWOSU's STEM-related departments to develop methods of communication and collaboration with Oklahoma critical workforce leaders, especially in aerospace and defense.
The STEM Recruiter and Workforce Liaison works with a variety of stakeholders, including high schools, academic departments, and industry professionals.
The goal of the position is plan, manage, and develop strategies to increase enrollment and completion in SWOSU's critical workforce programs, including but not limited to the aerospace-related departments of Engineering Technology, Computer Science, and Chemistry and Physics.
This will include two main tasks:
1) recruit students toward programs that are aligned with workforce development for the aerospace and defense industries, among other critical areas, and 2) collaborate with industry professionals to increase the pipeline of graduates into these areas through internship and job placement programs.
The Recruiter/Workforce Liaison shall work effectively with the administration, faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders to accomplish the mission and achieve the goals and objectives of the Campus and the University.
This will also entail collaborative work with the Vice President for Strategic Partnerships.
The Recruiter/Workforce Liaison shall ensure that the Campus offers quality education to all students and all accreditation requirements are met and maintain a collegial and collaborative scholarly environment.
Has overall responsibility for compliance of University policies and procedures and state or federal mandates for responsibility areas.
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Serve as primary liaison between STEM industry and SWOSU STEM departments and students.
Work with SWOSU's STEM-related departments to develop methods of communication and collaboration with Oklahoma critical workforce leaders, especially in aerospace and defense.
Serve as a recruiter of students into SWOSU's STEM-related departments by identifying and contacting prospective students via high school and college visits, attending college/career fairs, electronic and direct mail campaigns, publications and through alumni relations and referrals.
Provide prospective students and their families with accurate, timely and necessary information needed for post-secondary study in STEM-related fields at SWOSU.
This includes the dissemination of information regarding admissions, degree plans, financial assistance, and scholarship opportunities.
Develop and manage an internship program that helps place students into critical workforce internships.
Collaborate with high school counselors, administrators, and/or related staff to coordinate presentations targeting students into high schools to talk to advanced mathematics and science classes about opportunities at SWOSU.
Must be able to plan and execute large-scale events and administrative processes.
Manage the collection of prospective student data including prospective freshman and transfer students.
Travel to high schools, colleges, businesses, and additional locations for meetings and presentations as needed.
Must be willing and able to perform job related travel, some of which may be overnight.
Must maintain a current and valid driver license.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree Previous experience and demonstrated evidence of managerial, supervisory and administrative success Excellent written, verbal, grammatical and interpersonal skills Excellent interpersonal and marketing skills Utilize office equipment Preferred
Qualifications:
Experience in Admissions, Recruitment, Student Services, or acceptable equivalent Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the President of SWOSU or their designee may find appropriate Competencies:
Ability to multi-task, organize, manage time effectively, and keep tasks appropriately prioritized.
Remains knowledgeable in applicable regulations, policies, and protocols Ability to use computer applications, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and a setting that is diverse.
Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships with diverse populations Ability to work with, assist, lead, and take directions from others in the interest of moving processes and programs forward to the desired outcome.
Ability to maintain an established work schedule.
